Your Own Custom Accounting Website Design Without The Excessive Expenses
Personally I suggest getting a template rather than investing in a custom design. Once you've considered all your options and you've decided you really want your website to be unique, there are still a couple of great tricks for avoiding the expense and hassle of a $2000 to $3000 full blown custom website design. Consider modifying an existing template, or combining the best features of two or more existing templates to create a new, completely unique one. It's really easy to make an existing template look like a completely unique website design. More often all you need to do is change the header graphic to completely transform the entire look and feel of the site. A header image is the picture you see along the top of most websites. It's a simple matter to replace this with an image of your choosing. You can use a head shot of yourself, a group photo of your staff, your building... anything you want. Other elements of the website are usually pretty easy to change also. Most websites use a technique called CSS, or cascading style sheets, that make it easy to change fonts and colors, and most content managers can even make changes to their navigation menus. These are great yet inexpensive ways to get a great looking custom site and it won't cost more than $250 to $300. Alternately you might want to try combining two or more existing templates into a new, completely unique design. Ive done this before on a number of occasions. One client in particular, Bernstein Rosen & Company CPAs PC, stands out in my memory. Remember that old candy commercial? The one where you see a couple fellas walking towards each other happily snacking on peanut butter and chocolate? When they collided they were at first frustrated but then amazed at the taste. Sometimes combining two great elements can make an even better one. I know it sounds ridiculous, but this can actually work when you're designing a website also. On the Bernstein job the first website design had a graphic element they really liked. It showed a stylized image people building a brightly colored puzzle-bridge to a "platform of success". Bernstein worked with our custom designer who took the elements of the people with the puzzle going to Success and changed the color to blend with the other website design. They felt the overall structure of this particular style was too simplistic. Instead they chose a different template as a guide to frame the rest of the site. The final website design incorporates some movement that provides an element of fun. The final result is outstanding. It really looks and feels unique, and it cost the client a small portion of what they would have needed to pay for a completely custom accounting website design. It's that simple. If you don't want to use a ready to use template, but you still aren't ready to spring for a completely custom accounting website design, there is a simple compromise available.
