All of us were born without knowing what lies ahead. It is definite that not all of us have the gift to predict the future and to avoid crisis. This is a good thing because it trains us to make decisions while using our minds to back-up our choices. In turn, our skills and abilities are enhanced and we develop this unique ability instead of putting it to waste. However, no matter how we use our minds, some people still get stuck in the middle of unavoidable circumstances like accidents and disasters. We are not the only ones living in this world and no matter what we will do there will be uncontrollable factors that could lead to unfortunate events.

The only thing we can do is to be prepared no matter what the situation will happen. Since, we are not certain what could happen next, you can try to think of possible ways for you to respond immediately in times of accidents or fire. Below are some of it:

1. List all emergency phone numbers in a paper. Have it laminated or paste in a hard cardboard and post it near your telephone. At least when you are rattled you can easily punch in the number without looking through the pages of the directory.

2. Buy cheap fire extinguishers for home use. This way in cases of small-scale fire, you can easily put them out. With these fellas around, you do not have to fear about burning the whole house. At least having them around would mean you control the fire before it gets worse.

3. Buy a first aid kit. If you do not want to buy, make one. All you have to do is to find a plastic box wherein you can place all items needed for first aid. You also have to purchase the following items: Gauze, plasters, antiseptic solutions, cotton and cotton-tip applicator, a pair of sterile gloves, scissors, bandages, tape measure, pen light and ice bags.

4. Ensure that you have spare blankets that can be used when someone feels cold or wet blanket that you can use in case if someone get accidentally burned. In cases of hypothermia, re-warming is needed. In addition, when a person catches fire on him, if pounding and beating the crap out of the fire does not work, a wet blanket can be very useful.

5. Buy over the counter medicines that you can give as a simple remedy for pain, colds, coughs and fever. Make your own medicine box so that you can easily identify medications needed for simple complains. Put an expiry date on the medication box to identify if it is needed to be replaced already.

Cheap fire extinguishers, medicine boxes, first aid kits and supplies are just simple means to be prepared in the most difficult situations. You can keep them in your homes and ensure that they are readily accessible when you need it the most. Make use of symbols and colors so that they can be readily identified. Remember, you cannot avoid unfortunate events like accidents but when the crisis arises, you can definitely come prepared for it.
