Your Value System Doesn’t Lie! But You Do!
Contrary to most of us believe, we are actually achieving successes in many thing we do. Just that we achieve them in accordance to our value system. In fact, while researching for this article, I came across a wonderful seminar featured in Success University, delivered by Dr. Demartini. Just like what Dr. Demartini mentioned in his seminar, we actually have successes in our lives. However, we often choose to compare ourselves with others and label ourselves as failures instead of acknowledging the successes we have achieved. Hence, when one truly starts to recognize the fact that he or she does have successes in his or her life, he will transcends from the need to compare with others to feeling thankful, appreciative and grateful for all the successes he has in his life. Rather than comparing ourselves with others and feeling down over the successes we’re lacking, Dr. Demartini suggested we start looking into ourselves and have a good look at our value system to find out why are we not yet the successes we desire to be. As what I mentioned before, we actually achieved our success in accordance to how we rank our personal core values in our value system. Therefore, instead of looking outwards, we’ll need to start looking inwards for the answer. To make things simple and easy to remember, Dr. Demartini presented the technique of S.T.E.M for us to truly discover our value system. So why do you need the so-called “S.T.E.M” technique. Well, I was also very curious at that time when I was listening to his seminar at my back office of Success University. Don’t we already know at the back of our hand what we truly value most? To my surprise, Dr. Demartini said otherwise. Accordingly to him, people seldom walk their talk. For example, I can say I value my academic results (well, I’m still an undergraduate), however just take a look at my grade and my attitude towards my studies will tell you otherwise. (Opps…) =P This in fact hold true for my many other values which I thought I really cherish. Do you happen to experience the same thing? The S.T.E.M technique is in fact a simple yet very powerful and effective way to help you truly uncover your true, underlying value system. All you need to do is to ask yourself, “What/How do I spend/fill my ___________” • Space • Time • Energy • Money Now as you can see, Dr. Demartini’s S.T.E.M technique actually works! If you really work it. Being unaware of your value system is probably one of the reasons why you’re not able to find successes in the things you’re doing or in the things you desire to do. Therefore by recognizing your true, underlying values, you’ll be in a better position to achieve your success and pursue your desires.
