Your Website Sucks

You can lose thousands of dollars by having a crappy website. You probably don’t realize how many people click away to somewhere else because your website is not professional looking, or interesting enough. The customer will trust you in direct proportion to how professional your website looks. The necessity of having a custom website built is crucial if you want to be successful with your online business.

You have to think of your website as your storefront, since that is what it is. If it were a store on the street, people would judge it by the curb appeal long before they ever open the door to come in. It is exactly the same with your website. Did you know that most people form their first impression of anything in the first 4 seconds? That’s not a very long time to get their attention, no matter how much information your website contains.

The most important thing about the 4 second rule is that it is typically a visual impression that is first formed, long before you ever open your mouth to say something. The same is true with your website. If you don’t capture them in the first 4 seconds, your chance may be lost in a quick click of the mouse, before they ever even see what you have to say or offer.

You want them to have an impression that says “I want to see more”, NOT “your website sucks”. Out of the can or box website templates can be spotted a mile away by most Internet shoppers. That’s right. They have seen enough of them to recognize them, no matter how much work you did on it or how long it took you.

The best “storefront” you can have is one that is customized, professional and makes them say, “I want to see more”. It increases your chances of making a sale incredibly, and the extra it costs is easily recouped through the extra sales you are able to make. What good is a crappy website that sells nothing, compared to one that generates all kinds of interest, sales and profits?

A professional website designer can make websites that get your message across and catch the attention of your potential customers using the 4 second rule to keep them wanting more. The more they browse, the more likely they will become a customer that purchases your product or service, and that is the whole purpose of a website, isn’t it?

Well, it is. If you don’t believe me, then you should look at the websites you find interesting and think about why you find them interesting. In fact, you may be able to tell which websites are made from templates, or lack pizzazz, and you may not even realize it. The average person surfing the Internet may click away so quickly from pages they don’t think are interesting, that it may barely register on a conscious level with them.

Custom, professional websites draw attention, and are memorable enough to make people keep coming back, or at least thinking about them. Eventually, those same people end up coming back and purchasing. A great website is the key to a successful online business, not a website that sucks!
