Your Website - The Who's Who Of You

You’re at home and you have the hiccups. Despite every trick taught to you from those you know those darn hiccups persist. Where do you turn? That’s right, the internet. A quick search on your favorite search engine and website after website pops up outlining hiccup cures. You try a few and hey, your hiccups are gone!

So, you used the internet and found a website with some helpful information on it. Fantastic! Of course, we use the internet for a great many things. Recently I found a tree service to remove some trees in my yard. My mom, who can’t even operate a DVR remote, sends me pictures daily of funny pictures she finds. I’m not yet sure if I should report her for spam.

Now you are wondering if maybe you should have your own website. It’s a great idea, a who’s who of you. You may have some questions and concerns, though. How much will it cost for me to have my own website? What if I don’t know HTML? And of course the most important question of all, what should I name it? Let’s take a brief look at each of these questions.

First, how much will it cost you to have your own website? How does free sound? There are many places that offer your own website for absolutely free. Of course, there are some rules when creating a free website. The company may reserve the right to place advertisements on your website. More than likely you will not get to choose your own name. Or rather, you will be able to choose your own name but it will have the companies name before yours. And of course they may have some restrictions about what kind of content you can have. To be safe, be sure to read their terms of service before creating your own website.

If that doesn’t sound like exactly what you are looking for there are several places you can get your own website, with your own domain name (the address people type in to get to your website) for $10 and under. That sounds pretty cheap and it is. Again though, what about restrictions? Often the only restriction these places have is the amount of space you have for your website. However, each web page is so small, even if you add video and sound, you will be hard pressed to reach your limit. Not only that, with places such as Youtube you can place your video there and then just insert the link inside your web page so it takes up virtually no space at all. Most of these places also offer free site builders and templates for you to use which brings us to our second question.

What if you don’t know HTML? Not to worry. With free templates and site builders you can have your website up and running in only minutes knowing nothing more than how to drag, drop and type. Many come with a variety of pictures free for you to use and of course, you can insert your own if you so choose.

And now for the most important question of all. What should I name my new website? One option many people do not consider is use your own name. Not only will it be easy for others to find, it will be easy for others to remember. Even if this is not an option you like just do a little brainstorming. As you register you can type in the name you are looking for, and if it’s taken they will suggest other names that are similar. There are many web sites out there but chances are you can find a name that suits you to a tee.

In short, building your own website is not only possible, it’s affordable and easy. It requires nothing more than a little imagination and perhaps a neat picture to go along. Everyone from young adults to seniors can have their own website and enjoy telling their friends all about their new site. Be proud, it’s the who’s who of you!
