Zenyatta Still Perfect

As the word “perfect” is defined, perfection simply does not lose. Zenyatta has now proceeded to reach beyond a variety of challenges that were looking as if they could bring the horse down only to emerge to run an amazing 18 for 18 perfect record. With that, she won the $300,000 Grade 1 Clement L. Hirsch that took place at Del Mar by what could only be described as a long neck against the Midwest’s Rinterval.

Throughout the day, Zenyatta’s trainer John Shirreffs was rumored to be toying with the idea of not running the horse because of the track’s less than ideal conditions at the time. Being that Del Mar’s polytrack isn’t normally the kind of surface that Zenyatta usually prefers this idea was not too farfetched. However, the horse was still able to break through a slower pace in a shorter distance than she is accustomed to giving the crowd of over 32,000 exactly what they had been waiting to see.

The incredible mare of six years old could very possibly have at least two more starts left up her sleeve. After this staggering performance, she will now either head for a run on dirt on the East Coast or a jaunt in the Santa Anita race that bears her very name before she attempts to repeat her Breeder’s Cup victory at Churchill Downs for the Breeders’ Cup Classic once November rolls around. If she is able to achieve this, this will give the horse an incredible 20 straight wins, which will ultimately beat the record currently held by Pepper’s Pride of 19 victories.
