Zoids, A Walk Taken Through Time

Zoids Androids, or more commonly known as Zoids, was firstly released in the year 1982 and is a franchise which is based on forms of plastic Zoids toys. Originally, the Japanese toy company Tomy, currently known as Takara-Tomy, designed and was the first for its production. These Zoids Zero toys resemble a series of living beings, such as dinosaurs, insects and as well as mammals. The Zoids model kits and Zoids action figures were most produced in a 1:72 scale. They were either fixed with batter-powered motor or with winding-up feature so as to enable movements for the toys. There are also the snap-together feature with pre-coloured parts for the Zoids toys.

Over the years, there have been a production of different Zoids model lines or series, both in Japan and other countries. To satisfy the market of Zoids fans, there are more than two hundred distinct designs between the Zoids model lines and series.

Going back in time, the Robo Strux is a series of all the Zoids toys which were featured in the Original Japanese Release (OJR) Zoids. Nonetheless, there were versions of the same form of model but they were given a special Robo Strux colour scheme. There are also certain forms of model which retained their colour scheme from the original released series. Hence, this leads to the Robo Strux line with two distinct coloured releases of Zoids toys. Using this difference in colour themes, these Zoids actoin figures and model kits were separated into two categories, which are the Blue Guardians and the Red mutants. However, due to marketing and pricing factors, this series of Zoids toys were rather short-lived.

Along with the Zoids toys line, which includes re-releases of older Zoids but with fresh colour themes and divided into the Helic and Huylos versions, a sub-line, being the Zoids Customised parts were released. This particular form of Zoids toys type comes with extra equipments and weapons. These goodies are made so that they can be attached to the Zoids model kits. This Zoids action figures line is a mixture of band-new parts to be added to the original ones.

The Zoids Genesis toys line were made available in the early year of 2005. The Houndsoldier and Gilvader Zoids were the ones who were caught up in the limelight as they were the most anticipated model kits.

In the year of 2007, the Zoids original model kits were re-issued. These miniature robots came in the style of packing whereby the Zoids were featured in a particular windowed packaging. To the delight of fans all over the globe, these Zoids line cam with extra merchandise and a booklet stating the tales of the battlefields.

After going through this brief walk of Zoids Zero toys, let's hope that the Zoids will have a flourished future with its fans.
