Ebay History Can Keep You From Ever Losing Money
It’s really pretty simple to determine whether you’re going to make a profit on a product before you invest any of your money. The trick is doing a lot of research to find the right product at the right price. Once you’ve found some products you think you can profit from, it’s time to check the market (eBay History). Most people simply go to eBay and look at what people are asking for their items. The problem with this is most items don’t get bids until the final few hours. This will cause you to skip purchasing items for resell that have the potential for great profits. On the flip side, most auctions never get a bid which means the seller is asking too much. Now you come along and see that people are asking $30 for an item you can purchase for $20 and you think you’re going to make a killing when you buy a hundred of these. After you get them and start trying to sell them, you realize that people are only actually paying $15 for these. Now you’re stuck with a bunch of product that you’re going to spend at least a month trying to sell while losing money the whole time. The good news is you can keep this from ever happening to you. It’s amazing how many people still don’t know that eBay has an option to search for completed listings in their “advanced search” where you can do an eBay history search. All you have to do is put in the product that you’re considering buying and see how much similar products have been selling for. This is not the price sellers are asking for a product. This is what items have actually sold for or if they sold at all. Once you have this information, all you have to do is subtract the cost of the item, shipping cost, eBay fees and PayPal fees. If you still have enough left over to make it worth your time, then the item is worth purchasing. I still recommend purchasing the smallest amount you can for your first order just in case you overlooked some small detail that could change your margin of profit. Using eBay for your research has its limitations. The search only goes back for 2 weeks which will work for a lot of items, but what if what you’re thinking about purchasing is something that is kind of rare or just hasn’t been discovered by a lot of eBay sellers. There are other options for you out there such as Vendio which I use quite often. Just remember if you really want to get serious about selling items online, then you need to make sure to always do your research before investing any money on ANYTHING.
