Highlights / Facts from the Keynote Presentation - URLs showed up in advertisements 10 years ago. - 107 trillion people use email (the numbers are growing with mobile). - Multi-channel integration tells the story. Think of ways people are engaging. - Create an experience! - Have a conversation with your audience. - The question to ask is, “Who isn’t on Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn?” Chris Baggott, CEO and Co-Founder of Compendium Blogware, gave an awesome presentation entitled “Blogging and Social Media Synergy.” In it he stressed a constant flow of fresh content on your blog. Why? Because according to HubSpot, blogs drive the most traffic to websites – up to 4 times more! Additionally, “content curation” and “multi-tasking marketing” became Baggot’s buzz words of the hour. Think about that when you create your next social media strategy! Highlights / Facts from “Blogging and Social Media Synergy” - Check your site headline, key phrases, and pepper them into your content. - Drive traffic to your site with images on your pages and blog. - Write content that is re-marketable. Don’t re-invent the wheel. Use what you have and modify it to make it relevant. - Having Tumblr over a blog presence is not recommended. After Baggott’s presentation we had the pleasure of attending Communic8 CEO Lloyd A. Sliverman’s discussion, “Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn – Making it Social.” He shared some funny statistics (did you know S of women check Facebook in the bathroom) and gave helpful tips on how to drive traffic through planned strategies. Highlights / Facts from “Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn – Making it Social” - Fans are more valuable when they impact their friends. - People that give things away have more friends. - 1.5 million people have businesses with active Facebook profiles. The afternoon session got off to a delightful start. We attended Angie Pascal’s presentation on social media reputation management and left with a wealth of information. Pascal is the Communications and Social Media Manager at Location3 Media. Highlights / Facts from “Managing Social Media – Reputation Management” - Be transparent and honest when dealing with negative press. - Use social profiles to outrank negative content. Make sure you brand everything. - Forums are difficult to control. But if users swear or spam, do not hesitate to delete their comments. Following Pascal’s presentation we took a break from social and listened to Kevin Lee, CEO and Co-Founder of Didit, speak about search marketing and keyword strategy. Highlights / Facts from “Advanced Keyword Strategy and Modeling” - Develop a strong keyword strategy before you do any search engine marketing. - Create words that are in the form of a question when doing keyword searches. - On the Google keyword research panel, click on the columns icon to add parameters like cpc, competition.
