The iPhone platform isn't just for people who like to text and surf the web. Although popular for its abundance of casual games, the iPhone is a formidable platform for action games; with graphics and sound that won't leave you wanting.

Sporting a 3.5-inch widescreen display with 480 x 320 pixel resolution, the iPhone is perfect for bringing console-like graphics to the palm of your hand. A multi-touch, fingerprint-resistant display also lets the screen double as a game controller. Its built-in accelerometer allows for swiping, touching, tilting, and shaking gestures. These input devices bring a whole new dimension to action games.

Like all portable gaming devices, the iPhone has less screen space, a slower processor, and less memory than traditional game consoles you play at home. The novelty provided by its special user controls more than make up for this. Traditional game consoles have separate controllers detached from the main unit. The combined touchscreen display and accelerometer make the entire iPhone a controller itself!
