Auditioning and Need Duets and Monolouges?

For those of you who are going after a career in acting, if you are auditioning and need duets and monologues for your auditions, there are some places online that cater to student and professional actors by offering quality monologues, both dramatic and comedic, as well as books full of excellent duets.  Two places are listed below to go online and check out the material and the prices:

  • At VTheatre online, vtheatre.net, there are several good links to put you onto the best monologues for auditioning for student actors and professionals.  This site offers good information, acting tips, auditions tips, offers books, and provides a blog site to absorb more auditioning information.
  • At Amazon.com online, they are offering a paperback edition of "Doubletalk," which includes 50 satirical duets at a price of $15.95.  At the time of this article, in December 2006, there are approximately 39 new and used copies of the book, ranging in price from $1.29.  Not a bad deal at all, considering how scarce good duet material is online — something I happened to notice in my search to find material for duets.

Just a small tip to beginning actors going on your first audition:  The site at VTheatre is a very good resource to keep in your favorites on your computer.  The outside links and resources offered at this site can prove to be extremely valuable for novice actors, and maybe even valuable for those who call themselves professionals.  We never get too old or too experienced to learn from others as time goes along.
