Seen the $20 Million Wedding Cake?
A $20 million wedding cake is no everyday occurrence, particularly among the 85 percent of us who share 15 percent of the total wealth generated within the economy in America today. So, it's no surprise that the $20 million wedding cake frosted with diamond icing and guarded heavily by security guards in October of 2006 recently caused a record number of comments by bloggers at Luxist, luxist.com, where most of them were "not impressed" with such extravagance. The $20 million wedding cake, which was on exhibit in late October at the Luxury Brands Bridal Show held at the Beverley Hills Hilton in Beverley Hills caused quite a rage among we common Americans who find it difficult to get even the smallest, minute fraction of a piece of the economic pie in today's economy. The cake, which caused such a fuss, was part of an exhibit in which 75 exhibitors took place in this luxury wedding exhibition. For comments from the bloggers about the "total waste of good food and the misguided logic behind this creation." and for close-up pictures of the $20 million cake, go to the websites at luxist.com and at A Welsh View, xo.typepad.com, for more flippant comments about this outrageous overindulgence by the super rich and the people who organize their special wedding festivities.
