The Atkins Low-Carb Diet - The Inside Scoop

The Atkins low carb diet plan is one of the harshest to follow. For most people, the Atkins diet does work exceptionally well but people do have different levels of success when it comes to their results.

People have different dependencies on carbs just as people have varying degrees of addiction to things like caffeine.  Following the Atkins low carb diet plan puts a person's habits when it comes to consuming carbohydrates to the test.  There are some that find it nearly impossible to go even one meal without eating carbs.

While our bodies do run primarily on carbohydrates, there are many alternate methods of fueling the body. The concept behind the Atkins low carb diet program is to get your body to access the stored body fat instead of using any immediately available, recently eaten carbs and any stored up glucose. Losing weight with the Atkins program is the result of using stored body fat for energy instead of burning all those starchy carbohydrates you are used to eating.

If you’re someone who is highly dependent on carbs, you might try switching out your favorite carbohydrates for whole grain versions.  Making a simple change like this will help you transition into a full-blown low carb or even no carb diet much easier.
