Argument For Business Aircraft Making Fiscal Sense

Corporate aircraft are not a simple expensive perk for the executive set. As one begins to actually study corporate aviation, one finds that truth trumps the empty rhetoric opposing private aircraft. Studies have proven that corporations using private jets do better than their competition that do not. Essentially it is about a business using the resources available to them.

One of the advantages to corporate aviation is that a private jet makes ten times more locations available over the commercial airlines. Commercial airlines only serve five hundred airports in the continental US, private aircraft have around five thousand airport they can utilize. This means employees can make more visits per day and still be home at the end of the day. They also can be productive in transit, rather than be work restricted in airports and crowded airplanes. Besides the major carriers are reducing the number of places they serve, having eliminated 100 routes this past year alone.

This transporting people to multiple sites in a single day are not to be discounted. This means a real cost savings from having to board employees overnight, feed them, and peripheral transportation costs (taxi, shuttles, rental cars). Then the lost productivity is huge when dealing with employees who make six-figures every year. A simple trip to one site using commercial airlines can cost the employee three days travel with only one of those days actually working. With a private jet that same employee can fly into three locations in one day, rather than three days for one location.

This also brings to mind that more than eight percent of private jet passengers are not the executive class. They amount to less than twenty percent of corporate aircraft passengers. Corporate aircraft also move parts, equipment, and raw materials needed to keep plants and operations going. They move specialists and technicians to these same plants, thus keeping plants open. Keeping the company profitable and the employees working.

Therefore, if one just looks more closely at corporate aviation, they find that the anti-sentiment of private aviation is unfounded. Private jets do make a lot of fiscal sense.
