Coloured contacts are small shaped lenses with a colored tint that is placed directly onto the front surface of the eye. These lenses are used as a fashion accessory. These lenses are available in several color shades and you can pick a few of different colors to wear to the next party or picnic.
A contact lens prescription is used to correct optical problems such as short sightedness, long sightedness, astigmatism etc. Often contact lenses are fitted to correct distortions of vision caused by an irregular cornea. Your vision should be regularly checked. The coloured contacts should be cleaned using recommended solutions only. This is necessary to ensure that the color tint remains stable for a long time. Coloured contacts are not suitable for small children as a high level of care is needed to keep the lenses clean and safe.
The lenses should not be rinsed in tap water as it may cause infection. Environmental factors such as smoke or dry air may cause discomfort to a contact user from time to time. It is always better to keep a spare pair of contact lenses on hand for replacement in case of loss or damage. An alternative is to carry your glasses with you for replacement in case of an emergency.
Make sure that the contacts are comfortable and stable but not so tight so that it restricts tear flow underneath the contacts. As a follow up care the eye doctor may advise you to reduce the amount of time you wear lenses or change to a different contact lens material if necessary.
