How To Be Successful At Celebrity Spotting!

For those of us that have been lucky enough to spot or ever meet a celebrity in person, it’s usually an unforgettable experience. The process of looking for celebrities can be fun as well, provided that you go about it, the right way. This means that you need to know where to look for celebrities and more importantly, how to behave when you spot them.

Looking In The Right Place

The most popular place to spot celebrities is in Los Angeles and the Hollywood area. Though many celebrities do own homes in other areas, this is the place that they tend to come to for their work. It’s not an uncommon thing to spot a television star or a familiar face from commercials just walking down the street. If you’re keen on spotting some of your favorite celebrities, it’s best to go the places where they are known to hang out. Some famous restaurants like Dan Tana’s, Mr. Chow’s and Spago are all well known eateries where you can easily spot a few celebrities eating right next to you.

The main celebrity-spotting venues can be divided into two categories - one is the events. This would include movie premieres, club openings or special events at shops or other public places. The disadvantage of these kinds of areas is that they are usually crowded and swarming with the press. While you will probably catch a glimpse of your favorite celebrities, you might not have a chance to actually talk to them. On the other hand, since these are public events, the celebrities will be much more open to taking photographs and signing autographs.

Common Courtesy

The second category of celebrity spotting involves ordinary places like shopping malls, boutiques, theme parks and restaurants. In these instances, celebrities will usually be with family or friends, trying to enjoy their time like ordinary people. In these instances, celebrities might seem more approachable but they may not like being approached by fans, especially if they are trying to spend quality time with someone. This brings us to a very important aspect of celebrity spotting - how to behave. When you spot a celebrity, don’t panic and be calm. Approach them politely and be courteous - greet them and then ask if they would mind giving you an autograph or taking a picture with you. If they say no, then be respectful of that. Remember that celebrities are human beings as well - if you wouldn’t appreciate people hounding you when you’re trying to have lunch, chances are a celebrity wouldn’t like it either.

The good news is that if approached in a polite manner, most celebrities are more than happy to sign an autograph and even speak to you for a while. Most celebrities get agitated when photos are taken without permission, when fans grab at them and when they make demands. If you behave politely and courteously, there is a very good chance that your favorite celebrity will be more than happy to take a picture with you. Don’t forget to thank the celebrity for their time before you say goodbye to them!
