The idea of an apocalypse is terrifying for a people and tradition less than the pretension that everything is beneath our management — and that our best hope is to continue on to sense in management. In politics right now, apocalyptic considering on the right and the still left is primarily based on an apocalypse that is absolutely sure to hurt us — but is not so unwieldy that our overall regulate could not avert it. Meanwhile, the Christian strategy is virtually the reverse: Embracing apocalypse would not only get ready us for the truth of the planet to come, but it requires an acceptance of the environment as it is and our role in it.
