Yuvam Dünya and Galata Wind join forces in the climate crisis

Having a meeting of minds between the business world and NGOs is of great importance when issuing a joint message. The goal of the Yuvam Dünya Association is to start a movement to involve all segments of the population in the fight against climate change. This year Yuvam Dünya is participating in COP27 together with Galata Wind, a corporation that produces 100 percent renewable electricity from solar energy. Yuvam Dünya and Galata Wind will host a panel at the COP27 conference on November 8. As the sponsor of the panel, Galata Wind will reveal what kind of footprint it wants to leave on the world for the future, and the panelists will discuss detailing its role in the process of dealing with the climate crisis, establishing a road map and involving the other participants in the search for effective solutions. The panel, “History Changes Everything” will highlight the story of a changing generation and the transformation of individuals, communities and institutions. Yuvam Dünya Founder and President Kıvılcım Kocabıyık, Galata Wind CEO Burak Kuyan, Yuvam Science Committee Chairman Professor Levent Kurnaz, Yuvam Dünya Association Board Member will participate in the panel discussion and CEO of Effect BCW, Gonca Karakaş, and Yuvam Dünya’s climate ambassador, well-known actor Kerem Bursin.

“We must accelerate the transition to renewable energies”

Speaking before the panel, Galata Wind CEO Burak Kuyan explained how the importance of renewable energy was increasing every day saying: “For a healthier, safer and more livable world, we need to reduce emissions by finding low-carbon solutions carbon Whatever the delay in taking action on this, the continuation of the use of fossil fuels, the persistent participation in actions that destroy the environment are factors that will constantly intensify the merciless impact of climate change. Therefore, clean and renewable energies play a key role in the sustainable transformation of all sectors “We must accelerate the transition to renewable energies”

“An important meeting for the future of humanity”

Underlining the importance of participating in COP27 to represent Yuvam Dünya’s efforts in the fight against climate change, Yuvam Dünya’s founder and president Kıvılcım Kocabıyık said: “COP27 is a very important meeting for the future of the planet and humanity. New. steps are taken at every COP. We hope that COP27 will be a summit where important steps will be taken. Nationally Determined Contributions (NDCs) of countries must be increased to reduce their emissions. So far, commitments have not been enough to achieve the safe increase in temperature warming of 1.5 degrees. Scientists define the result of exceeding the safe limit of an increase of 1.5 degrees as “disastrous”. Although there is still time, we want to see all countries work together to tackle this great challenge. I hope that COP27 will be a summit that achieves this goal. As Yuvam Dünya, we strongly support these efforts and we are determined to do everything in our power to contribute.”

The summits are considered the highest level decision-making forums of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. They are celebrated every year in different countries; the first Conference of the Parties was held in 1995 in Berlin, Germany. The previous summit, COP26, was jointly hosted by the United Kingdom and Italy in Glasgow, Scotland.
