“Below the Banner of Heaven,” a new Hulu miniseries with an all-star forged that debuts Thursday (April 28), may well not make quite a few associates of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints pleased. But then yet again, neither did Jon Krakauer’s 2003 bestseller on which the 7-episode demonstrate is centered. The miniseries carefully tracks Krakauer’s account of the grotesque 1984 murders of 24-calendar year-aged Brenda Lafferty, performed by Daisy Edgar-Jones of “Regular Men and women,” and her 15-month-outdated daughter in the vicinity of Salt Lake Metropolis, Utah. Like the guide, it explores the underworld of Mormon fundamentalism and polygamy, subsequent the descent of a family members of brothers into madness, misogyny and violent spiritual extremism.
