MBUX Zero Layer Function Rolled Out to the 2021 S-Class and C-Class
The Zero Layer function is a new intelligent feature in the latest Mercedes-Benz luxury vehicles that allows more seamless operation for the MBUX infotainment system. Recently, the three-pointed star marque also rolled out an over-the-air update that lets owners of the 2021 C-Class (W206) and S-Class (W223) enjoy the tech.
The Zero Layer feature was first introduced in the EQS Sedan. Now, it is gradually being rolled out to the other range of Mercedes, and down to the models mentioned here. Basically, the system takes note of the driver’s habits and preferences. After that, they are tailored to the automated functions of the MBUX infotainment system to provide more convenience and comfort to its users.
For example, if the driver has a routine of calling home at certain times while on the car, Zero Layer will memorize that behavioral pattern. So, next time the driver is on the road at the same time he/she regularly calls home, the system will automatically remind or suggest to him/her to do the same.
The suggested action is offered to the driver through a tile on the interface of the MBUX display. This way the option will only be just a single tap away and the driver will no longer have to browse across the selection menu of the system or do voice commands to get there. This way, distraction is lessened and safety is significantly improved while on the road.
Of course, the driver can just reject the option by selection the appropriate command labeled “do not suggest now”. Likewise, the user can permanently delete the suggestion so the system can forget it.
The operation of Zero Layer extends beyond the scenario provided. It can adjust the other comfort, navigational, and entertainment features of the car on demand as well.
