Next-Gen Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door EV Spied During Testing

Recent spy shots of what appears to be a prototype of a next-generation Mercedes-AMG GT 4-Door suggest sweeping changes coming into the range. The sighting also hints that the model may be heading to full electrification.

The spy photos here may have deviated from the usual zebra-patterned camouflage that we have been accustomed to when it comes to Mercedes-Benz prototypes, but the close resemblance of the unit to the current AMG GT 4-Door is undeniable. The one we’re looking at here, however, only appears to be longer than the current model and does bear some striking similarities with the contours of the Vision AMG concept car that we witnessed back in 2022.

The prototype is also evidently missing an exhaust system, which points to its electric vehicle (EV) identity. With this, AMG may either ditch the GT’s existing 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 or 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six in favor of an EV powertrain or simply add the fully electrified unit seen here as an alternative to the fossil fuel-guzzling versions of the car.

For now, we can only speculate as to what the AMG GT 4-Door EV will have to offer, but it will likely have the 831-hp GT 63 S E Performance Hybrid as its benchmark. Furthermore, judging from its seemingly early development stage at this point, it may be a long way to go until we see the car’s production version.

The earliest launch of this next-gen AMG GT 4-Door will most probably happen as early as next year or sometime in 2026.
